Prayer Ministries Network - The Need for Healing

Sometimes, we need healing. . .

As Christians we yearn to grow closer to God, our Father!

We know that the only way to do that is to repent of our sinful past, and begin a personal relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ, by asking Him into our heart and being filled with the Holy Spirit. We learn of the promises in the Bible that say how much the Lord wants us to have rich, full and rewarding life in Him; that He wants us to "come into the land that I have promised for you".

Yet, for most of us, almost immediately, we are confronted with obstructions and all kinds of difficulties that make this seem too hard! Some of these problems and hurts are miraculously healed and dealt with when, in repentance, we meet the Lord Jesus Christ. Others that we knew about continue, and still others - perhaps from our past, but with power to hurt our future - seem to come out of hiding just to restrict our progress. Satan is a destroyer and the chief liar, so not only does he desire to cause chaos in our lives, he will also try to remain undetected at the same time.

But the Holy Spirit is the infallible light that can shine onto all Satan's dark deeds revealing their causes and origins. Jesus as our healer and restorer will reveal His truth, thus bringing freedom to these areas.

The Bible is clear in telling us however, that Satan cannot work such deeds unless he has a legal right to do so. By our sins, poor decisions, reactions, unforgiveness, vows and words, we have all given him these rights to a certain extent. By applying Jesus' love and grace to any situation, in the correct way, these rights can be overturned with healing and release folowing - this is God's promise!

"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed."

1 Peter 2:24 (NIV)

"He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted,

to proclaim freedom to the captives

release from darkness for the prisoners...

to comfort all who mourn...

to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes

the oil of gladness instead of mourning

and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair."

Isaiah 61
